In all the kerfuffle, handwringing and despair in the US about the destructive effects of the Republican's fake AHCA bill, one fact has seemed to escape most analysts. it's this:
For the very first time in the history of the GOP, they have passed a healthcare bill that is the definition of 'socialized medicine’. Their bill contains billions of dollars to subsidize US healthcare. This is not my definition of socialized medicine, it's the Republican's definition.
They always swore, for 8 years anyway, that they would completely repeal Obamacare. Why? Because they didn't believe the government should be involved in healthcare in any way, shape or form. Yesterday, the GOP caved.
This is a first, and a huge change for the GOP nit-wit hypocrites. They are now on record, perhaps, no probably, as having voted for the bogeyman - socialized medicine. It's a ideological change that can't be undone.
Unfortunately, those Trump voters will probably be spared the pain, both financial and health wise, of Zombie Trumpcare, because it's highly unlikely the US Senate will even consider the House's bill. The Senate will most likely simply ignore the 'fake' zombie health bill and write their own version to send back to the House.
Once the bill gets back to the House with many of most egregious parts stripped out and benefits like coverage for pre-existing conditions, no caps for lifetime illness and Medicaid expansion the GOP troglodytes will revolt and we'll end up back at square 1 with Obamacare the law of the land as it is today.
In the meantime, welcome to the world of socialized medicine US Republicans. You voted for it.
